TORONTO - The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) announced today a revised format for women's rugby sevens.

With six teams competing this season, the regular season format will be a single round robin between the clubs totalling five (5) games each. Matches will be held at neutral sites, with the Seneca Sting (North York) hosting six (6) matches on Saturday, Oct. 2, while the Durham Lords (Oshawa) host nine (9) matches on Saturday, Oct. 16. The schedule on Oct. 16 will be released later this month.
The championship format will also be amended with all six teams participating. Teams will be divided into two pools based on regular season standings (first, third and sixth place teams in one pool; second, fourth and fifth in the other). Teams will play each other once, with the top two teams proceeding to the medal round.
In the semi-finals, the top club of each pool plays the second seed in the opposite pool, with winners advancing to the gold medal match. Losing teams will compete against each other for bronze.
All OCAA schedules for the 2021-22 season, including dates, times and locations, are subject to change.
