HUMBER 90 MINUTES AWAY FROM OCAA WOMEN’S SOCCER REPEAT

HUMBER 90 MINUTES AWAY FROM OCAA WOMEN’S SOCCER REPEAT

VAUGHAN, Ont. - The defending Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) women's soccer champion Humber Hawks will appear in its second straight OCAA gold medal game, defeating cross-town rival Seneca 2-0 in a semi-final match on Friday.

A goal in the 36th minute proved to be all Humber needed, with OCAA women's soccer player of the year and all-Canadian Keyla Moreno scoring on a penalty kick. Moreno was named a tournament all-star at last year's OCAA championship.

Seneca kept it close the rest of the way, finally bending with two minutes left in regulation. Stefany Santos scored the insurance marker, sending Humber to the OCAA gold medal game.

Seneca could not avenge last year's 3-0 loss in the OCAA semi-finals to Humber.

Humber has now won 10 straight matches in 2011, including two post-season victories. The Hawks have not allowed a goal in four matches.

Humber meets Algonquin in the OCAA gold medal game, while Seneca faces Fanshawe in the bronze medal match.

All games will take place at The Soccer Centre in Vaughan, Ont. Both women's matches will be webcast live on Sportslive.ca.
