OAKVILLE, Ont. - The Sheridan College Athletics and Recreation
Department is proud to announce that they will host the 2013 OCAA
Women's Soccer Championship, October 25-26, 2013, as their host
proposal was accepted by the OCAA membership during the Annual
General Meeting in London last week.
"Clearly this is an exciting opportunity for our institution,"
Sheridan athletic director Jim Flack said. "We
have one of the finest on-campus soccer facilities in the country
and we are thrilled to share that with the greater OCAA community
for this championship event. Beyond that, our women's soccer
program has proven to be a tremendous example of the spirit of
inter-collegiate athletics - they play and study with equal
exuberance and then they go on to get jobs after graduating."
"We are very happy to be hosting this event," added Sheridan
varsity coordinator and tournament chair, Wayne
Fish. "A lot of work has gone into this facility over the
past few years and we are eager to showcase it during the
championship."
The event will be held at Sheridan Stadium - part of the the J.M
Porter Athletic Centre - situated on the west side of Sheridan's
Trafalgar Road Campus in Oakville.
This marks the first time that Sheridan has played host to a
soccer championship since they hosted both the men's and women's
championships during the 2006-07 season.
The Lady Bruins had one of their most successful seasons in their
history last year, posting a 7-1 record - scoring 28 goals while
conceding an OCAA-low three goals - to win the competitive OCAA
West Division, before being upset 1-0 in the quarter-finals by the
eventual bronze medalists from Centennial.
