ST. CLAIR WOMEN'S SOCCER COACH STEPS DOWN

WINDSOR, Ont. - The St. Clair College Athletic Department would like to announce that Dan Docherty, the head coach of the women's varsity soccer program, has tendered his resignation effective immediately. Docherty has been the head of the women's program for the past 11 seasons. During his time with the Saints, the women's soccer team made the playoffs three times in what is probably the toughest division of women's soccer in Canada.

Coach Docherty stated, "I feel now is a good time for me to step aside and let someone new get involved. I hope I have left the program in better shape than I found it in. I would like to thank St. Clair College and the Department of Athletics for their support and the opportunity to be involved with a great educational institution. Even though we did not have the greatest success on the field I was always proud of the effort of the women I coached and I hope I had a positive impact on their lives."

Athletic coordinator Jay Shewfelt commented, "St. Clair would like to thank Dan for his time and effort over the past 11 years. Nobody worked harder than Dan and his staff and he had an amazing impact on his student athletes on and off the field. I have had many of Dan's players approach me after playing for him and commenting on the great experience they had. We wish Dan all the best in his future endeavours."

The Athletic Department begins its search immediately and interested applicants can view the posting of the head coaching position for women's indoor and outdoor soccer programs on our website at www.saintsathletics.ca.
