STALEY RESIGNS AS DURHAM WOMEN'S SOCCER HEAD COACH

OSHAWA, Ont. - After five seasons as the head coach of the Durham College women's soccer program, David Staley has resigned to pursue other opportunities.

"We want to wish David the best of success as he leaves our program," said Durham College athletic director Ken Babcock. "He was not only a respected and successful young coach in the OCAA but a former all-Canadian goalkeeper at Durham. David will continue to focus on his club coaching in Ontario as well as new responsibilities at his place of work and will always be a strong supporter of Durham soccer."

Staley took over the women's soccer program in 2009 and compiled an overall record of 38-12-8 (30-6-6 conference). Staley led the Lords to five straight playoff appearances which included the OCAA championship game 2009, where they eventually fell 1-0 to the Fanshawe Falcons. The Lords also took home OCAA medals in indoor soccer in 2011 (silver) and 2013 (bronze), while making a final four appearance in 2012.

Prior to his coaching career, Staley was a member of the Durham men's soccer team who won three OCAA provincial medals from 1995 to 1997. In 1999, the college officially retired Staley's jersey for his success and contribution to the school and sport.

A formal search to secure a new women's soccer head coach will begin immediately.
