MEDICINE HAT, Alta. - The 2014 CCAA Women's Soccer National Championship wrapped up on Saturday as Cégep Garneau captured the gold medal.

The NAIT Ooks and Cégep Garneau Élans competed in the final match of the tournament with the first 15 minutes being very disciplined, tactical interchange for both teams before the game started to open up leaving room for Garneau's Marie-Mychéle Métivier to score. The second half was all about Garneau being tactically sound. They were defensively solid throughout the match. Métivier scored the remaining three goals rolling out a 4-0 finish, making them the gold medal winners.

In the bronze medal match both the Seneca Sting and Ahuntsic Indiens came to win, with the first 45 minutes being a game of a strong defensive line on both sides. It took a set piece to provide the only goal in the first half which was scored by Cassandra Nicolodi in the 23rd minute. Ahunstic came out much stronger in the second half, with Alexa Arsenault scoring seven minutes in. They continued to push for a goal but unfortunately were caught in a counter attack and fell behind due to a strong defensive finish and goal by Peta-Gay Burrell. In the end Seneca took bronze with a final score of 2-1.

Earlier in the day, the Medicine Hat College Rattlers defence had a very nervous start in their game against the MSVU Mystics, which led to a couple good opportunities for the visiting team. The Rattlers switched up their positions by putting centre-back Cassidy Larochelle as striker and pulling Kaylie Klaiber back into central defence to deal with MSVU's Jessica Partridge.

In the second half, MHC pushed hard finally getting the break-through goal in the 79th minute and an insurance goal a couple minutes later by Daragh Ofuarthain. It proved to be another great decision by head coach Jim Loughlin to push Ofuarthain up-front, to utilize her speed and skill and to capitalize on the opportunities she was given. The final score was 2-0.

In the battle of Langara College Falcons versus the Vancouver Island University Mariners, Langara got off to raging start with a goal in the first minute by Tessa Tasaka. The game then settled down, with both teams exchanging chances until the 21st minute when Langara was awarded a very soft penalty in which Tasaka scored to double their lead. In the 53rd minute Kelsa Lefebvre scored a goal for Langara bringing it 3-0. The Mariners refused to give up and came back into the game in the 90th minute with Jillian Kelly scoring, which was quickly followed by Samantha Rodgers in a three-minute overtime. Despite the impressive comeback it just wasn't enough and they lost 3-2.

The day ended with the closing ceremonies and the following awards:
