CONESTOGA 2, MOHAWK 2

ANCASTER, Ont. - Meaghan Longpre's brilliant shot from long range, with five minutes to go, lifted Conestoga to a 2-2 tie with Mohawk in OCAA women's soccer in Ancaster, Ont., on Tuesday.

It was the only goal of the second half, following a flurry of markers late in the first half.

The Mountaineers opened the scoring in the 40th minute on Laura Fable's header, but Erin Socholotieuk equalized for the Condors two minutes later. Then Raman Gill scored for Mohawk in first half stoppage time with a terrific free kick from 24 yards into the upper right hand corner.

Mohawk, is now unbeaten in three games and has a record of 2-2-1, while Conestoga is 2-2-2.

The Mountaineers will next face the Humber Hawks, Saturday at Redeemer. Game time is 2 p.m.

Meantime, the Mohawk men and Conestoga drew 1-1.

After a goalless first half, Conestoga's Joel Vazquez Prada fired a low, 25 yard shot into the Mohawk net in the 54th minute to give the visitors the lead. But only four minutes later Mark Sannzzaros took a great turn in the box and made no mistake, allowing the Mountaineers to share the spoils.

However, both teams are still looking for their first win. Mohawk is 0-3-2, while Conestoga is 0-5-1.

The Mountaineers host Humber on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Redeemer.
