KOVACEVIC BREAKS OCAA RECORD FOR GOALS IN A SEASON

LONDON, Ont. - On Saturday afternoon, Fanshawe Falcons women's soccer player Jade Kovacevic (Georgetown) set the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) record for most goals in a season, when she scored a pair versus the Lambton Lions to give her 22 goals on the year.

Kovacevic scored in the sixth minute to break the previous OCAA record, set by Katie Watts of Durham College. Watts scored 20 goals in 11 games (1.82 goals per game) in the 2008-09 season. Kovacevic then added a second goal of the game to bring her to 22 goals in only nine games. She continues to lead the OCAA in scoring, averaging 2.4 goals per game. Kovacevic is now tied for second place on Fanshawe women's soccer career goal scoring list behind Melanie Moulton (26).

Fanshawe's final regular season game will take place in Windsor, Ont., on Tuesday, Oct. 20, when they play the St. Clair Saints. This will be a battle for first place in the OCAA West Division, as the last time these two teams met on Oct. 8 in London, Ont., St. Clair handed Fanshawe their only loss of the season.
