DURHAM 2, LOYALIST 0

OSHAWA, Ont. - The Durham College women's soccer team picked up a 2-0 victory on Tuesday night at home against the Loyalist Lancers in advance of their road trip to Ottawa this weekend to take on the first-place Algonquin Thunder.

Taylor McGee (Bowmanville, Ont.) opened the scoring for the Lords on their second shot of the match in the 10th minute.

The team controlled the possession in the first half, although they were unable to score another goal before the break, outshooting the Lancers 3-0.

In the second half Loyalist took over the possession game, but were unable to get any chances on Durham's Jessica Prytulka (Kingston, Ont.) as her defenders were able to clear away any opportunities.

In the dying minutes Taylor Ford (Brooklin, Ont.) sealed the victory with her tally in the 89th minute.

Prytulka earned her third clean sheet of the season in goal, while Rhiann Nicol took the loss for the Lancers.

The Lords (3-1-2) will face the Algonquin Thunder (6-0-0) this Saturday in Ottawa before taking on the St. Lawrence Vikings (4-0-0) on Sunday in Kingston, Ont. This weekend is expected to be a great test for a young Durham squad, who lost their first match of the season on Saturday at home against Cambrian College.

Kick-off on Saturday is 3 p.m.
