ANCASTER, Ont. - Gabrielle Krebs scored in three straight games to lead the Mohawk Mountaineers to the women's championship in the Redeemer soccer tournament in Ancaster, Ont., Sept. 2-3.
Krebs got the lone goal in the Mountaineers' 1-0 victory over the Conestoga Condors in their opening game.
The second-year player from St. Jean de Brebeuf scored on a textbook header from a free kick in Mohawk's 2-1 verdict over the Fleming Knights. New striker Kaiden Curran, a transfer from the University of Guelph, notched the other goal.
In the championship game, Mohawk downed the Redeemer Royals 4-1, out shooting their hosts 21-4. Krebs, Danielle Datzkiw, Taylor Campbell and Maria Cascella scored for the Mountaineers.
The Mohawk men dropped a 2-1 decision to Redeemer in their bronze medal game. Andrew Hodginson scored for the Mountaineers.
In earlier play, Joseph Barkovich and Semir Ibrahimi scored in Mohawk's 2-0 victory over Conestoga and Sani Dey tallied in a 1-1 draw with Fleming.
Niagara Knights won the men's title.
