ST. LAWRENCE (K) 7, DURHAM 1

KINGSTON, Ont. – The Durham College women's soccer team opened up OCAA conference play this weekend looking to put a tough preseason in their rearview mirror.

Although they failed to pick up a point on the road, the team can take some positives heading into an important pair of games next week against Loyalist (Thursday) and Fleming (Saturday).

Things looked optimistic for Durham as they scored the opening goal against the Vikings just 15 minutes into the game. However, the goal seemed to wake up the Vikings up as they scored two quick goals shortly after to go up 2-1 at half.

The floodgates would open in the second half as St. Lawrence scored five unanswered goals to win 7-1. Nicole Cathcart led the St. Lawrence attack with four goals.

On Sunday, the Lords knew they would be in for a battle as Algonquin beat Centennial 12-0 the day before. The Lords would fare much better than the Colts did but also failed to score as the Thunder won 3-0.

Both St. Lawrence and Algonquin lead the OCAA east region with matching 2-0 records.

The Lords home opener will take place on Thursday night when they host the Loyalist Lancers. Kick off is at 6 p.m. at Vaso's Field.
