ST. CLAIR 6, CONESTOGA 0

KITCHENER, Ont. - The St. Clair College varsity soccer teams were on the road on Saturday in Kitchener to face the Conestoga Condors. On a very wet and rainy day the Saints came away with two convincing wins.

The women defeated the Condors by a score of 6-0. St. Clair opened the scoring in the ninth minute on a goal by Kaitlyn Austin. Tiffany Trembley put the Saints up 2-0 in the 28th minute. Austin notched her second of the game just four minutes later to make it 3-0 for St. Clair. Melanie Daniel made it 4-0 in the 48th minute. Nina Civitarese put the Saints up 5-0 in the 68th minute followed by Amber Hosker rounding out the scoring in the 82nd minute. Alexandria Samping earned the win and clean sheet by turning away all 12 shots she faced.

With the win the Saints improved to two wins and a tie on the season. The St. Clair women are next in action on Friday at 2:30 p.m. when they host the Mohawk Mountaineers at the Main Campus Field.

The St. Clair men also handled the Condors easily winning 5-0. Stefan Milidrag put the Saints up 1-0 in the 21st minute. St. Clair had seven shots on goal in the first half compared to two for Conestoga. The Saints had 10 shots attempted compared to four for the Condors.

The Saints took over the match in the second half. Milidrag got his second of the game in the 55th minute. Leighton Speechley-Price put St. Clair up 3-0 in the 63rd minute followed quickly by Luke Husband's tally in the 69th minute to make it 4-0. Martin Nyul completed the scoring making it 5-0 in the 90th minute of play. Keeper Shane Beaton earned the win and shutout in goal. In the second half, the Saints outshot the Condors 11-0 and had 16 shot attempts compared to two for Conestoga.

The win improved the Saint's record to two wins and a loss. The St. Clair men's next match is on Friday at 4:30 p.m. when they host the Mohawk Mountaineers at the Main Campus Field.
