DURHAM 2, CENTENNIAL 1

SCARBOROUGH, Ont. - When looking back at the 2016 Durham College women's soccer season, tonight's game against Centennial could end up being a turning point.

The Lords saved any chance at a playoff berth with a 2-1 comeback victory over the Colts.

Having only scored four goals in eight games heading into Thursday's contest, the Lords fell behind early on and could have easily packed their season in. However, the team fought hard and were rewarded for their effort as they scored back-to-back goals to end the half to go in front 2-1.

Over the next 45 minutes, Durham's defence managed to hold Centennial off the board with goalkeeper Heather Travis (Oakville, Ont.) leading the way as she picked up the win.

Sarah Balzia (Brooklin, Ont.) and Taylor McGee (Bowmanville, Ont.) were the goal scorers for Durham. McGee has scored three goals in her last three games to lead the team in scoring.

With the win, Durham (3-6-0) jumps ahead of Fleming (2-5-1) for the fourth and final playoff position in the OCAA east region, setting up for a big match at Vaso's Field next Tuesday night when the Lords host the Knights. Kickoff for the do-or-die game is 6 p.m.
