ST. CLAIR 2, MOHAWK 0

ANCASTER, Ont. - The St. Clair Saints blanked the Mohawk Mountaineers 2-0 in OCAA women's soccer at the Redeemer Sports Complex in Ancaster, Ont., on Saturday.

The Saints got on the board in a big scramble in first half stoppage time, as Kristen Melo got it across the line.

Then in the 88th minute they made sure of the victory. Melanie Daniel scored on a half-volley from the middle of the penalty area.

St. Clair sports a 5-0-1 record, while Mohawk fell to 3-3.

ANCASTER, Ont. - The St. Clair College varsity soccer teams were on the road on Saturday in Ancaster, Ont., to face the Mohawk Mountaineers. On a wet and rainy day the Saints came away with two convincing wins.

The women defeated the Mountaineers by a score of 2-0. In an evenly played first half St. Clair took the lead on a goal by Kristen Melo in extra time. Both keepers had four shots on goal in the first half while both teams had seven shot attempts. The Saints played better in the second half but did not put the game out of reach until Melanie Daniel scored in the 88th minute. St. Clair outshot Mohawk 8-6 in the second half and had 12 shot attempts compared to 10 for the Mountaineers. Alexandria Samping earned the win and clean sheet.

With the win the Saints improved to five wins and a tie on the season. Mohawk's record fell to three wins and three losses. The St. Clair women are next in action on Tuesday at 5 p.m. when they travel to London to take on the first place Fanshawe Falcons. The Falcons are ranked second in Ontario and sixth in Canada while the Saints are ranked fifth in Ontario.
