ST. CLAIR 7, REDEEMER 0

WINDSOR, Ont. - The St. Clair College varsity soccer teams picked up two big wins on Saturday afternoon as they hosted the Redeemer Royals at the Main Campus Field.

The women defeated the Royals by a score of 7-0. Kaitlyn Austin had a huge first half start scoring three times in the first 12 minutes. Cassie Nicholas made it 4-0 in the 15th minute before Austin scored her fourth to make it 5-0 in the 20th minute. Melanie Daniel added two more goals in the 39th and 66th minute to round out the scoring. Alexandria Samping was solid in net and earned the win and clean sheet.

With the win the Saints improved to 7-1-1. The loss dropped the Royals record to 2-7 on the season. The St. Clair women are next in action on Tuesday at 6 p.m. when they host the first place Fanshawe Falcons in their final regular season game at the Libro Centre in Amherstburg, Ont. The Saints are currently ranked fifth in Ontario. St. Clair has scored 35 goals and allowed 11 in nine matches played.

The St. Clair men defeated Redeemer by a score of 2-1. Leighton Speechley-Price but the Saints up early on a nice goal in the third minute. St. Clair played well the rest of the half but could not score another goal outshooting the Royals 5-2 in addition to hitting a couple posts. Redeemer tied the score in the 40th minute on a deflection off of a St. Clair player on a free kick.  Stefan Milidrag put the Saints up 2-1 in the 65th minute. Keeper Shawn Hunter earned the win but had to make a huge save from in close in the final minutes to secure the win. Total shot attempts for the match were 22-13 for St. Clair.

The win improved the Saint's record to 7-1-1. The loss dropped the Royals record to 3-4-2. The St. Clair men's next match is on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. when they host the Fanshawe Falcons at the Main Campus Field. Both teams are tied for first place in the OCAA West Division heading into the final regular season game. The first place team earns a bye to the OCAA championship while the second place team will have to play a playoff match to make it to provincials. The St. Clair men are currently ranked third in Ontario and 10th in Canada.
