OCAA MEN’S AND WOMEN’S SOCCER DIVISIONAL REALIGNMENT

OCAA MEN’S AND WOMEN’S SOCCER DIVISIONAL REALIGNMENT

TORONTO - In an effort to balance the distance traveled for member schools across the province, the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) has realigned its East, Central and West Divisions in Men's and Women's Soccer for the 2017-18 season.

Seneca College will switch places with Cambrian College, with the former joining the East Division and the latter moving to the Central Division. Conestoga College and Niagara College will change divisions as well, with the former joining the Central Division and the latter moving to the West Division.

The new formats for Men's and Women's Soccer is as follows:

East Central West
Algonquin Cambrian Conestoga
Cambrian Conestoga Fanshawe
Centennial George Brown Lambton
Durham Humber Mohawk
Fleming Niagara Niagara
Loyalist* Seneca Redeemer
St. Lawrence-Kingston Sheridan St. Clair
Seneca UTM
Bold = 2017-18 additions;  Strikethrough = 2016-17 deletions;  *Women's Soccer Only

The regular season format remains the same, with teams playing a double round robin format (home and away matches against teams within the division) equaling 10 matches each, with the exception of the East Division in Women's Soccer as these teams play 12 games with one additional team in the group. As a result, Seneca Women's Soccer will play two extra matches in 2017-18, while Cambrian will play two less games compared to last season.

Regular season schedules will be released in the latter half of June. Fleming (Peterborough) and Cambrian (Sudbury) will host the OCAA Championships in Men's and Women's Soccer, respectively, from Oct. 26-28.
