Nipissing University’s Marc LaRochelle is the winner of
the 2007 CCAA Women's Volleyball Coach of the Year. Marc led the
Nipissing Lakers to a perfect 14-0 season in Ontario Colleges
Athletic Association (OCAA) league play. Under his leadership and
coaching, the Lakers won their first ever Central-West Division
title and OCAA Championship. This season is only the second time in
Nipissing’s history that a team has gone undefeated, with the
first being in Division two play. The Lakers also secured their top
ranking with wins at both the Humber Cup and Durham Killer
Instincts tournaments, also for the first time in their athletic
history.
Marc prides himself on offering a quality volleyball program that
focuses on commitment, dedication, excellence, hard work, and most
importantly, fun. He uses the sport of volleyball to provide
valuable lessons which his athletes can take away to apply to their
personal and professional lives, including teamwork, goal setting
and achievement, problem solving, discipline, respect,
communication and confidence in self. Ultimately, Marc encourages
his student-athletes to always dream big and never give up.
With the goal to see his players graduate, Marc’s commitment
and dedication extends beyond the court. He continually works with
his athletes, supporting their academic progress and personal
development. Throughout the year, the Lakers Volleyball Program
also runs various clinics, tournaments and camps.
