TORONTO - The following have been named Ontario Colleges
Athletic Association (OCAA) volleyball student-athletes of the week
for the period ending Sunday, Feb. 19.
MALE: Dave McMann, Durham
Durham fifth-year middle David McMann (Elmvale,
Ont.) broke another OCAA record this past week, this time for
career stuff blocks. McMann now has 206 for his career, one more
than previous record holder Corey Cole of St.
Clair. McMann recorded 83 blocks during the regular season, which
is also an OCAA record. Just for good measure, McMann earned six
blocks as part of 19 total points in a 3-1 (23-25, 27-25, 25-12,
25-23) playoff win over Fanshawe on Feb. 18.
FEMALE: Sara Rettie, Trent
Trent fourth-year middle Sara Rettie (Newmarket,
Ont.) earned a match-high 18 points as the Excalibur outlasted
Sheridan 3-2 (17-25, 25-19, 23-25, 25-22, 16-14) in a crossover
playoff game on Feb. 18. Rettie contributed 11 kills, five blocks
and two aces in the victory. Rettie averaged 2.2 points per set
during the regular season. Trent has earned a spot at the upcoming
OCAA Women's Volleyball Championship, taking place at Georgian
College in Barrie, Ont. starting this Thursday.
