ST. CLAIR VOLLEYBALL TEAMS OFF TO PLAYOFFS

WINDSOR, Ont. - For the first time ever, both of St. Clair College's varsity volleyball teams have qualified for the playoffs in the same season.

The men's team is off to Oshawa, Ont., to take on the Durham Lords on Saturday at 1 p.m. The winner of this match will qualify for the OCAA provincial championship being hosted by Georgian College from Feb. 20-22. The St. Clair men finished the regular season tied for fifth place with a record of 10-8. The Saints are ranked ninth in Ontario.

St. Clair is arguably in the toughest division in men's volleyball in the country with four teams from the OCAA West Division above the Saints ranked in the Top 15 in Canada. During regular season play the Saints defeated both Niagara (10th in Canada) and Mohawk (15th in Canada). St. Clair will have their work cut out for them against Durham. The Lords are ranked fifth in Ontario and finished the regular season in second place in the OCAA East Division with a record of 16-2.

The women's team is off to Barrie, Ont., to take on the Georgian Grizzlies on Saturday at 1 p.m. The winner of this match will qualify for the OCAA provincial championship being hosted by Durham College from Feb. 20-22. The St. Clair women finished the regular season in fifth place with a record of 9-9. The Saints are ranked ninth in Ontario.

St. Clair will have a tough challenge ahead of them against Georgian. The Grizzlies are ranked fifth in Ontario and finished the regular season in third place in the OCAA East Division with a record of 14-4 .The Saints have faced the Grizzlies three times during the season in exhibition tournament play. St. Clair dropped all three matches 2-0.
