GEORGIAN WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL FALL IN OPENER OF PROVINCIALS

OSHAWA, Ont. - The Georgian Grizzlies women's volleyball team had some bad breaks that led to a tough defeat at the hands of the Fanshawe Falcons in their opening match of the 2014 OCAA Women's Volleyball Championship hosted by Durham College in Oshawa, Ont.

After taking a tight first set 27-25 the Grizzlies dropped three straight sets 25-18, 25-23 and 25-19 to fall 3-1 to the Falcons.

Erin McClean (Barrie, Ont.) was named player of the game for the Grizzlies.

Georgian can still take home a bronze medal and it will start again on Friday afternoon when they face the Conestoga Condors in an elimination game at 1 p.m.

Earlier in the day at the Championship Banquet several Grizzlies were recognized for their outstanding season's.

Veterans Hannah Campbell (Midland, Ont.) and Natalie Buck (Keswick, Ont.) both received first-team East Division all-star selections, while Veronica Harrison (Cookstown, Ont.) and Allison Marshall were each named second-team all-stars.
