OCAA ANNOUNCES 2015-16 VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE SCHEDULES

OCAA ANNOUNCES 2015-16 VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE SCHEDULES

TORONTO - The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) men's and women's volleyball league schedules will begin on October 20, culminating with the provincial championships being held February 25-27.

In between, a total of 400 regular season matches will be played, the most since 2012-13.

The regular season opens at Seneca College on October 20, with Fleming College providing the opposition. Reigning OCAA men's champion Niagara College starts its season two days later as it plays host to Fanshawe College in a rematch of last February's OCAA semifinal.

Eight-time defending OCAA women's champion Humber College begins its quest for a nine-peat at Sheridan College in Oakville, Ont., on October 24. These teams met in the 2015 OCAA quarter-finals, won by Humber in four sets.

Centennial College makes its return to OCAA volleyball on October 22 when it hosts Durham College. It will be a tough task for the home side, with Durham's women the defending OCAA silver medalists, and men coming off perfect 2014-15 regular season.

The most anticipated match of the men's schedule takes place on October 25 when Niagara hosts St. Clair College. These teams met twice during the 2015 post-season; once in the OCAA gold medal match, and again in the national bronze medal match in Charlottetown. Both matches were won by Niagara.

Defending men's bronze medalist Mohawk College will be looking for redemption after losing to Niagara in five sets in the OCAA quarter-finals. Mohawk had lost just one match during the regular season. These teams will meet in late November in Hamilton, Ont., and again in early 2016 in Welland, Ont.

A meeting between 2015 OCAA women's medalists takes place on November 19 as Humber hosts reigning bronze medalist Niagara.

The OCAA volleyball championships will take place in late February, with Canadore College hosting the women's tournament in North Bay, Ont., and Seneca hosting the men in North York, Ont.

OCAA will release its men's and women's basketball league schedules on Friday. Soccer, rugby, baseball and softball schedules were released earlier this week.

OCAA schedule dates, times and locations are subject to change.
