WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP: DAY 3 RECAP

VICTORIA - A pair of Conference champions battled hard in the seventh-eighth place match-up at the CCAA Women's National Volleyball Championship as the MSVU Mystics got by the Humber Hawks in four sets.

CCAA Placement Match: MSVU Mystics 3, Humber Hawks 1

The first set went back and forth with the Mystics hanging on for a 25-23 victory, before the Hawks responded with a 25-18 win to tie the match.

The Mystics however put their foot on the gas with excellent defence and a balanced attack offensively scoring set wins of 25-18 and 25-22 to seal their first victory at this year's tournament.

All-Canadian Christina Day led the offence with a match high 11 kills and Sydney Foy had eight, both in their career ending matches. The Mystics other fifth year senior Jane Delahunt was named Player of the Match collecting six kills and four blocks out of the middle. With the victory the Mystics will finish seventh.

On the other side of the court, the Hawks were led by their Player of the Match Devan O'Connor who collected eight kills, four aces and 12 digs.

Both teams will be congratulated following tonight's gold medal match.
