BARRIE, Ont. - The Georgian Grizzlies women's volleyball team had their first action of the pre-season on Saturday as they hosted the Loyalist Lancers, George Brown Huskies and Fleming Knights in an invitational tournament.

The Grizzlies won their first two matches of the day at the Georgian Athletic Centre over Fleming 2-1 (25-16, 25-17, 21-25) and the George Brown Huskies 2-1 (16-25, 28-26, 25-15).

This set up a final round match-up against the Loyalist Lancers who also went 2-0 through their first two games.

Unfortunately for the Grizzlies it was the Lancers who were able to pull out the win in the tight 2-1 match with scores of 25-19, 25-19, and 20-25.

The Grizzlies have one more tune-up in the pre-season as they will travel to face the Conestoga Condors on Wednesday, Oct. 12.

Georgian will open their 2016 OCAA regular season at home against the Fleming Knights on Friday, Oct. 21 at 6 p.m. at the Georgian Athletic Centre.
