DURHAM 3, FANSHAWE 0

WINDSOR, Ont. - The Durham Lords shut out the Fanshawe Falcons in three straight sets to keep their undefeated season record in the first game of the OCAA Women's Volleyball Championship presented by belairdirect at the SportsPlex held at St. Clair College on Friday.

Durham powered through the Falcons in the first set with a score of 25-11. Fanshawe answered back with strong offence in the second set, putting the pressure on Durham, who ultimately overcame with a final set score of 25-23. Fanshawe's defence fell victim to Durham's aggressive offensive front, who managed to pull it out with a 25-16 victory over the Falcons in the third set.

Allison Marshall led her team consistently throughout the game with 15 kills, one ace and two stuff blocks. Shannon Dean was right behind her with eight kills, one ace and three stuff blocks. Strong setting was provided by Megan Romain with 25 assists.

Lindsay Wilcox answered with eight kills and two aces for the Fanshawe Falcons. Meghan Morelli contributed with six kills, two aces and two stuff blocks. Twelve assists were provided by Darian Gropp, who was named the Fanshawe Falcons Player of the Game.

The Player of the Game for the Durham Lords was Marshall, who was also named the OCAA Player of the Year.
With the win, Durham advances to the semi-final at 6 p.m. on Saturday against the Niagara Knights.
