BARRIE, Ont. - The Georgian Grizzlies women's volleyball team hosted their own invitational tournament on Saturday at the Georgian Athletic Centre in Barrie, Ont.

The four-team tournament featured three games for each team and the Grizzlies were able to run the table to go undefeated.

Georgian didn't drop a set at the event as it started the day with a 3-0 win over La Cité (25-16, 25-14, 25-13). It then followed that with a 3-0 win over George Brown (25-20, 25-15, 25-15) and a 3-0 win over Conestoga (25-14, 25-15, 25-22) to wrap up the tournament.

This was the first event of what will be a busy pre-season for the Grizzlies as they prepare for their 2017-18 OCAA regular season.

The Grizzlies will host a pair of teams from the OCAA West Division in the Redeemer Royals (Oct. 3) and the Conestoga Condors (Oct. 11) in exhibition games at the Georgian Athletic Centre.

Georgian will then take part in the Niagara Invitational on Oct. 14 in Welland, Ont.

The Grizzlies will then open their regular season schedule on the road when they travel to face the Loyalist Lancers on Saturday, Oct. 21 in Belleville, Ont. Five nights later, the Grizzlies will host their home opener against their division rivals the Durham Lords at 6 p.m. at the Georgian Athletic Centre.
