The OCAA Cross Country Championships took place this past weekend as Redeemer University College and Mohawk College co-host the event at the Ancaster Community Centre and Dundas Valley Conservation Authority. The course was in rough shape due to the rain but that did not slow down Dawn Martin of St. Lawrence Brockville who finished first in a course record time of 20:55. This marks the third win for Martin on the year.

Tineke Dejong and Becky Pieterson of Fanshawe finished second and third helping the Falcons to the Women’s team title. The Humber Hawks finished one point behind the Falcons falling just short of their third consecutive championship. The host team from Redeemer finished in third.

On the Men’s side, David Sharratt of Conestoga finished first to repeat as OCAA Men’s Champion. Josh Bujold of Cambrian and Sean Sweeney of George Brown joined Sharratt on the podium.

The Conestoga Condors were crowned the OCAA Men’s Champions. Sharratt lead the way for the Condors with his first place finish. Teammates Jason Smith (seventh), Francis Caral-Mellon (eighth) and Drew Jensen (14th) all played important roles in securing the gold for Conestoga. Last year’s Champions from Fanshawe finished in second while George Brown finished third.
