Monique Haan, head coach of the Humber Hawks men and women's cross-country running teams, is the 2012 CCAA Cross-Country Running Coach of the Year.
"Monique's had a great year with the squad," says Brian Stackhouse, CCAA cross-country running convenor. "She's always been a great force behind the sport."
The Humber Hawks' will be attending the 2012 CCAA Cross-Country Running National Championship after a strong OCAA season; three Hawks made the OCAA First All-Ontario team, and they earned an OCAA women's team gold medal, men's team silver medal and women's individual bronze medal.
Haan is a NCCP level 2 certified coach who hopes to see the Hawks repeat as CCAA team champions.
The other nominees for 2012 CCAA Cross-Country Running Coach of the Year were Paul Coffin of the Dragons de l'Université Sainte-Anne, Jamie Grant of the SAIT Trojans, Jacques Hince of the Vulkins de Victoriaville, and Nikki Reiter of the UBC Okanagan Heat.
Haan received the award Friday, November 9 during the CCAA Championship Awards Banquet at the 2012 CCAA Cross-Country Running National Championships in St-Lambert, QC. CCAA Coach of the Year recipients receive a customized ring provided by Jostens, the Official Ring Supplier of the CCAA Championship Awards Banquet.
The 2012 CCAA Cross-Country Running National Championships will be hosted by Champlain St Lambert Cavaliers November 10 at Parc Michel-Chartrand in Longueuil, Quebec.
