FENNELL FINISHES IN 10TH SPOT AT PROVINCIALS

ANCASTER, Ont. - The Georgian Grizzlies men's and women's cross country running teams competed at the 2013 Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) championships hosted by Redeemer University College in Ancaster, Ont., on Saturday.

Georgian's runners battled some wet and cold conditions to have a good showing at the biggest event on the OCAA calendar.

The Grizzlies men's team finished in sixth place with an average time of 31:47 over the 8 km track.  Ryan Fennell put together an impressive 10th place finish overall as Georgian's top runner. The first-year Grizzlies student-athlete posted a time of 30:01 just two minutes behind gold medalist Clint Smith from Fanshawe College.

The women's team finished the 5 km course with an average time of 26:40 good enough for 10th place at the championships. Serafima Stilman (Angus) was the Grizzlies top female runner clocking in at a time of 25:04 on the afternoon.

The Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association National Championships take place on Saturday, Nov. 9 hosted by Humber College in Toronto.
