ST. CLAIR CROSS COUNTRY STARTS SEASON IN LONDON

LONDON, Ont. - The St. Clair College cross country team competed at their first event of the season Saturday at the 18th annual Fanshawe Invitational in London, Ont., at the Fanshawe conservation area.

The Saints women's team finished in second place while the men's team finished in 10th place. A rookie laden women's team from St. Clair was led by Natalie Omahen who finished eighth overall in a time of 21:12 over the five kilometre course. Second-year runner Amanda Matthews was close behind in 10th place in a time of 21:29. Patricia Battocchio (14th place, 22:04), Morgan Jones (19th, 23:09) and Sara Duic (24th, 25:09) were the other Saints competitors in a field of 54 runners.

On the men's side St. Clair's Skylar Edwards was 11th overall in a field of 97 runners covering the eight kilometre course in a time of 28:53. Other finishers for the Saints were Jack Longeuay (39th place, 32:06), Dante Lapico (44th, 32:51), Cameron Collins (57th, 34:05) and Amir Bello (65th, 36:06).

The St. Clair cross country team will next be competing in the Windsor Open hosted by the University of Windsor this Saturday, Sept. 27 at Malden Park.
