ST. CLAIR WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY TAKE OCAA SILVER

KING CITY, Ont. - The St. Clair College women's cross country team ran to a team silver medal at the OCAA provincial championship hosted by Seneca College in King City, Ont., Saturday and qualified for the CCAA national championships in Calgary in two week's time.

Natalie Omahen (Tecumseh, Ont./St. Anne) and Amanda Matthews (Windsor, Ont./Belle River) ran to 10th and 11th spots over the five kilometre course in the field 86 runners just a second apart. Omahen crossed the line in 22:32 with Matthews right behind at 22:33. Other finishers for the Saints were Paiton Del Monte (23:46, 26th place), Patricia Battocchio (23:49, 29th place), Donia Binder (24:20, 36th place) and Morgan Jones (25:10, 40th place).

On the men's side Andrew Aguanno (Etobicoke, Ont./St. Michael's College) ran just off the podium in fifth place in a time 28:50 over the eight kilometre course and led the Saints to a fourth place overall finish in the team competition. Rookie Skylar Edwards (Windsor, Ont./Vincent Massey) was top 10 in ninth position in a time of 29:02. Other finishers for the St. Clair men in the field of 122 runners were Jack Longeuay (30:50, 29th place), Dante Lapico (32:14, 48th place), Cameron Collins (34:03, 67th place) and Amir Bello (34:58, 81st place).
