ST. CLAIR CROSS COUNTRY TEAM STARTS WELL IN LONDON

LONDON, Ont. - The St. Clair College cross country team competed in their first event of the season Saturday at the 20th Annual Fanshawe College Invitational in London at the Fanshawe Conservation Area.

The Saints women's team finished in fourth place out of the 14 OCAA teams registered with a total of 92 runners in the five kilometre race. St. Clair was led by Meghan Howell (Harrow, Ont./Harrow District) who finished in fifth place in a time of 20:42.

Other finishers for the Saints included Hannah Cirino (15th place, 21:12), Beth Horrobin (20th place, 21:42), Aryana Cirino (22nd place, 21:43), Toria Verbeek (36th place, 22:49), Abbey Rice (64th place, 25:34), Shelby Cohen (69th place, 25:52) and Breanne Anderson (79th place, 27:41).

St. Clair's men's team finished in sixth place out of 15 schools and were led by rookie runner Ricky Nepomuceno (Windsor, Ont./Holy Names) who completed the eight kilometre loop in a time of 29:10 which was good for 11th place in a field of 110 runners.

Other finishers for the Saints were Ryan Bell (28th place, 30:54), Jay Kerr (41st place, 31:49), Jordan Root (54th place, 32:56), Andrew Garant (58th place, 33:06), Justin Folkeringa (61st place, 33:14), Andrew Leaman (80th place, 35:09) and Dante Lapico (93rd place, 36:50).
 
The St. Clair cross country team will next be competing at the Sault College Invitational Oct. 1 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.
