ST. CLAIR CROSS COUNTRY COMPETES AT SAULT

The St. Clair College cross country team competed in their second event of the season Saturday morning at the Sault College Invitational in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., at Crimson Ridge Golf Club.

The meet featured nine OCAA schools along with an OUA school and will be the host site of the CCAA national championships Nov. 12. The St. Clair women's team ran to a third-place finish while the men were sixth in the team competition.

Leading the Saints women's team was Megan Howell (Harrow, Ont./Harrow District) who finished in sixth place with a time of 20:33 over the five kilometre loop. Other finishers for St. Clair were Hannah Cirino (21:08, 10th place), Beth Horrobin (21:44, 16th place), Aryanna Cirino (21:59, 20th place), Toria Verbeek 22:35, 21st place) and Abbey Rice (23:39, 28th place) in a field of 51 finishers.

The St. Clair men were led by 11th place finisher Ricky Nepomuceno (Windsor, Ont./Holy Names) in a time of 28:12 over the eight kilometre course. The remainder of the Saints men's team included Ryan Bell (30:34, 38th place), Jason Kerr (31:01, 42nd place), Andrew Garant (31:11, 45th place), Justin Folkeringa (31:26, 46th place) and Jordon Root (33:18, 54th place) in a field of 70 runners.

The St. Clair cross country team will next be competing at the Seneca College Invitational Oct. 15 in King City, Ont.
