ST. CLAIR CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS OFF AND RUNNING

LONDON, Ont. - The St. Clair College cross country teams competed in their first event of the season Saturday at the 21st Annual Fanshawe College Invitational in London at the Fanshawe Conservation Area. First year runner Tyler Jones (LaSalle/Sandwich) ran away from the field leading wire to wire to take the gold medal in his first collegiate race.

The St. Clair men's team finished with a bronze medal out of 13 schools led by Jones who completed the eight kilometre loop in a time of 27:21 in a field of 84 runners. Other finishers for the Saints men were Gavin Wesley (11th place, 29:10), Andre Tomasian (13th place, 29:12), Nicholas Cull (31st place, 31:06), Justin Folkeringa (42nd place, 32:21) and Ryan Bell (45th place, 33:32).

The Saints women's team finished in fifth place out of the eight OCAA teams registered with a total of 62 runners in the six kilometre race. St. Clair was led by Beth Horrobin (Wallaceburg) who finished in eighth place in a time of 25:19. Other finishers for the Saints included Hannah Cirino (17th place, 26:59), Nicole Desrosiers-Michienzi (23rd place, 27:44), Aryana Cirino (26th place, 27:59), Jessica Hodgkin (35th place, 30:22), Samantha Boussey (39th place, 32:49) and Holly Pavlovic (56th place, 35:34).
