GEORGIAN CROSS COUNTRY CONTINUES TO BUILD AT SENECA INVITATIONAL

KING CITY, Ont. - The Georgian Grizzlies men's and women's cross country teams have shown steady improvement at each race this season and that continued Saturday at the Seneca Invitational held in King City.

Tyler Thomson (Bracebridge) had an impressive day for Georgian in the men's eigth kilometre race. The second-year runner finished in 17th place overall just over a minute behind the race winner.

After missing the last race, Adam Skinner (Stratford) had a good return finishing in 36th overall.

In the women's six kilometre race, Georgian's Meaghan Evon (Barrie) and Jessica Roach (Orillia) finished just six seconds apart in 24th and 25th place, respectively.

Desiree Allen (Orillia) and Sophia Merilainen (Batawa) finished in 40th and 41st overall. Together as a team the Grizzlies finished in seventh place.

The Grizzlies will now have a couple of weeks of training ahead of them prior to their next race at the Centennial Invitational on Oct. 14. This will be Georgian's final tune-up prior to the OCAA championships which take place Oct. 28 hosted by Fanshawe College in London.
