ST. CLAIR CROSS COUNTRY TEAM PODIUM FINISHERS AT CENTENNIAL

TORONTO - The St. Clair College cross country team competed in their third event of the season Saturday at the Centennial College Colts invitational meet held at their Ashtonbee Campus in Scarborough with both the men's and women's team coming away with a podium finish.

The St. Clair men's team finished with a silver medal out of 13 schools led by rookie runner Gavin Wesley (Kashechewan) who finished in 10th place in a time of 27:28 over the eight kilometre course. He was followed closely by teammates Andre Tomasian (12th place, 27:45) and Tyler Jones (13th place, 27:46). Other finishers for the Saints men's team were Justin Folkeringa (32nd place, 29:26), Nicholas Cull (36th place, 29:37) and Chase Squire-George (55th place, 32:08) in a field of 94 runners.

The Saints women's team also reached the podium with a bronze medal finish out of the 10 OCAA teams in a field of 74 runners. St. Clair was led by Beth Horrobin (Wallaceburg) who finished in seventh place in a time of 24:22 in the six kilometre race. Other finishers for the Saints included Hannah Cirino (18th place, 26:01), Nicole Desrosiers-Michienzi (26th place, 26:36), Aryana Cirino (29th place, 27:11), Jessica Hodgkin (35th place, 27:34) and Samantha Boussey (41st place, 28:14).

This was the final meet for St. Clair College in preparation for the OCAA provincial championship being hosted by Fanshawe College at the Fanshawe Conservation Authority in London on Oct. 28.
