Men's Basketball Storm Back to Dominate in Home Opener
Barrie, ON -- After a shaky start, the Georgian Grizzlies found their rhythm in a thrilling 99-82 victory over George Brown. In front of a packed crowd, Georgian overcame a 14-point first-quarter deficit, using relentless defense and sharp shooting to swing the game in their favor.
Georgian’s offense truly ignited in the second half, with standout performances from Trey Wilson (Barrie, ON) and Tyrese Drummond-Golden (Scarborough, ON). Wilson led the charge, racking up 32 points while going 11/13 from the line and 3/7 from deep. His ability to get to the basket and draw fouls was a key turning point in the game.
The Grizzlies bench also made a significant impact. Drummond-Golden contributed 17 points and 8 boards, providing the team with much-needed energy. Jason Sache (Kanata, ON) added 15 off the bench, and Kevonte Anderson (Toronto, ON) was instrumental in facilitating the offense, dishing out 10 assists and nabbing 5 steals.
In the end, it was a dominating second half that sealed the victory. The Grizzlies outscored their opponents by a combined 64-46 in the final two quarters, showing off their depth and conditioning. Up by as many as 20 points in the closing minutes, Georgian never looked back, finishing the game with a statement win.
