Mohawk Mountaineers men's soccer season came to an end on Saturday afternoon following a 2-0 loss to the Fanshawe Falcons.

All the Mountaineers needed to earn a playoff spot was to keep the game at a tie, which they did through the first half, but the Falcons found their offense late in the match.

Mohawk goalkeeper Oliver Steinke (Dundas, ON) held his own, stopping seven of the nine shots he faced.

The 2022 season didn't go as planned for the Mountaineers, who were looking to build on from the previous year.

"We've learned a lot as a group and a coaching staff, which we'll be better for next season," said head coach Jordan Brown.

The key outlook from this season for Mohawk will be those returning in 2023.

"We had a core group that stuck together throughout the season with many who will return next year, so I hope we've laid some good foundations for the future," Brown said. "We grew in terms of our effort and our team understanding as the season (progressed)."

The Mountaineers season ends with a 1-9 record.
