Mohawk Mountaineers men's volleyball will head into the holiday break with a 5-4 record after a 3-0 (18-25, 15-25, 23-25) loss to the Fanshawe Falcons.

Although the Mountaineers weren't able to win a set, head Brad McClure did see some positives from his squad.

"Despite the result I think we showed some good depth today and resiliency," McClure said. "We'll look to clean up our serve and pass game in addition to our offensive abilities."

Mohawk's Anthony Beijes (Hamilton, ON) had a game-high 11 kills.

Looking ahead to the second half of the season, the Mountaineers have nine matches left.

"Coming out of the first half with a winning record is a positive thing in our division," McClure said. "We'll expect to grow as a team and secure a playoff spot."

Mohawk will now have more than a month off before returning to action on the road versus the Redeemer Royals on Jan. 12 at 8 p.m.
