Women's Volleyball Imrpvoe to 10-1

Windsor, ON- The St. Clair women's volleyball team was on the road this weekend to take on two tough opponents in the GTA area and came away with two huge wins.

On Saturday, the Saints were in Etobicoke to take on the 3rd place Humber Hawks.  The Hawks are ranked 3rd in Ontario and 14th in Canada. In an exciting back and forth well played match St. Clair came out on top by a score of 3-2. Set scores were 22-25, 25-23, 25-19, 17-25 and 15-13. Te-Anna Stephenson (Whitby; Sinclair Secondary) led the way for the Saints with 18 kills, 2 stuff blocks, 1 service ace and 15 digs. Jordyn Pranger (London; Medway Secondary) had a huge game as well with 15 kills, 3 stuff blocks, 1 service ace and 14 digs. Setter Rileigh Davis (Georgetown; Georgetown District) came in off the bench and had a huge game with 33 assists, 1 kill, 1 stuff block and 5 digs. With the loss the Hawks fell to 8-3 on the year.

On Sunday, St. Clair was in Oakville to battle the Sheridan Bruins early in the afternoon after a long tough match the night before. The Saints came out on top 3-0 but the match was much closer than it appeared with each set coming down to the wire. Set scores for St. Clair were 25-23, 27-25 and 26-24. Stephenson led the way once again with 12 kills, 3 stuff blocks, 3 service aces and 6 digs.

With the two wins the Saints record improved to 10-1 on the season. St. Clair is currently ranked 2nd in Ontario and 11th in Canada. Stephenson currently leads the entire OCAA averaging 4.9 points/set.

The Saints are next in action on Saturday, January 19th when they host the Redeemer Royals at 2 pm at the Sportsplex
