Beth Minielly scored a team-high 19 for the Mohawk Mountaineers – two-points shy of a career-high – in a 91-59 loss to the Humber Hawks.

The fourth-year guard was seven-of-nine from the field and added five rebounds.

Unfortunately, the hot shooting of Humber saw them pull ahead in the first quarter and they never looked back.

Celina Chung (Toronto, ON) scored 13 for the Mountaineers; her second consecutive game with double digit scoring. Rachel Guanzon (Guelph, ON) added 10.

Mohawk has six remaining regular season games left and despite a 2-8 record, head coach Mihai Raducanu said that playing their best late into the season is their biggest focus. The Mountaineers remain in an OCAA playoff spot and will also have an automatic bid into the CCAA National Championships in March as the host team.

Raducanu sees the opportunity in front of his young team and wants them to capitalize on it when the time comes.

"We're going to the black-tie party, we can show up in sweats and flip-flops or we can buy nice shoes, do our hair and show up in a nice dress. That's what we want to do," said Raducanu.

Mohawk will now hit the road, heading to Kitchener, ON to play the Conestoga Condors on Jan. 26 at 6 p.m.
