Mohawk Mountaineers men's volleyball picked up their ninth win of the season, sweeping the Conestoga Condors 3-0 (25-12, 28-26, 25-21).

The win moves the Mountaineers to 9-7 and sole possession of the fourth seed in the OCAA West division. Meaning if the season ended today, Mohawk would host a match in the opening round of conference playoffs.

However, the Mountaineers still have two games remaining on the schedule and both Niagara and Redeemer – who are chasing Mohawk for the fourth seed – have an extra game remaining on their schedule.

The Mountaineers had full control of their match versus Conestoga, finding their offensive attack from multiple members of the team, while Ethan May (Dunville, ON) and Peter Pilling (St. Catharines, ON) led the teams defence at the net.

"We have been serving tough and our blockers are doing a great job at the net," said head coach Brad McClure. "Offensively we are distributing and getting everyone (involved) and the guys who are coming in (off the bench) are playing clean.

Mohawk will be in tough for their next match, heading on the road to play the Niagara Knights on Feb. 4 at 3 p.m. The outcome of this match will have major implications on the OCAA West standings as the season winds down.
