Baseball 2-2 in GTA/London Swing

Aurora/Etobicoke/London, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Baseball team were road warriors this past weekend and after a pair of 1-run losses Friday and Saturday they rebounded well with a doubleheader sweep in London on Sunday.

The Saints gave up a walk-off homer in the 7th inning and lost for the first time ever to Seneca College (North York) at Aurora's Stewart Burnett Park by a score of 4-3.  Brendan Renaud (Amherstburg, ON/St. Thomas of Villanova) had a single and a double in the loss for St. Clair while Emilio Valdes (Miami, FL) did not factor in the decision after only giving up 2 runs in 4 innings of work while striking out 7 batters.

On Saturday St. Clair got two hits and a run scored from rookie second baseman Carter Reh (Harrow, ON/ Kingsville District) against Humber College at Etobicoke's Connorvale Park but it wasn't enough as Luis Barrios (Cali, Columbia) suffered his first loss of the season after giving up 3 runs, 4 hits and 5 walks but struck out 8 Humber batters in nearly 5 innings pitched of the 3-2 loss.

The ship was righted Sunday after Micah Harris (Cottam, ON/Essex District) submitted a sterling performance for the Saints throwing a complete game 3-hitter and struck out 10 Fanshawe batters in the opening 10-0 win.  Travis Snyder (Battle Creek, MI) smacked 3 of St. Clair's 11 hits with Ryley Vernon (Lasalle, ON/St. Thomas of Villanova) adding two hits of his own in the lopsided win.  Evan Ferguson (Windsor, ON/St. Joseph's) collected the win in the second game for the Saints but was aided by strong relief from Eriq Nantais (Belle River, ON/Tecumseh Vista) and Austin Oulds (Chatham, ON) who preserved the 1-run lead for the 4-3 victory.  Renaud had two more hits including a double to go with 2 RBI's for the Saints.

The St. Clair Baseball team hosts OCAA newcomer Lambton College (Sarnia) Wednesday night at Lacasse Park with first pitch scheduled for 7:00pm.
