Basketball Gears up for Final Home Games of Semester

Windsor, ON – The St. Clair College Women's and Men's Basketball teams host their final games of the semester this weekend at the SportsPlex and look to enter the holiday break in position amongst the leaders of the OCAA's West Division.  The Saints host Redeemer University College (Ancaster) Friday night and then wrap up the home stand Saturday afternoon against Conestoga College (Kitchener). 

The St. Clair Women dipped slightly in the recent provincial rankings to the #4 spot with a 6-2 record in the OCAA's West Division which stands 3rd Place.  The Lady Saints fell out the national rankings for the first time this season.  3rd year guard Logan Kucera (Chatham, ON) leads the Saints in scoring at 18.9 points per game which remains 4th in the OCAA while twin sister Jana is 8th at 17.3 per game.  2nd year 5'5" guard Keirsten Tomkins (Sarnia, ON) remains a force on the boards rebounding the second most in the province at 11.9 per contest while 2nd year swing player Noor Bazzi (Windsor, ON/Vincent Massey) is averaging 13.1 points per game and has the 4th most 3-point makes in the OCAA.  The Redeemer Women (0-7) are winless so are this season while Conestoga is 5-2 (West 4th Place) and ranked #6 provincially. 

The St. Clair Men (7-2) are coming off their first two losses this past weekend to traditional powers Sheridan and Humber.  But the Saints are still 3rd in the OCAA's West Division standings but fell to the #5 spot in the recent provincial rankings and remain in the national poll at #14.  4th year point guard David Gomez Jr. (Pontiac, MI) still ranks among the league leaders averaging 20.4 points per game which is 6th in provincial scoring.  3rd year 6'6" post Glynn Willis-Paris (Detroit, MI/Kennedy Collegiate) is swatting the 4th most shots in the province while scoring 9.8 points per game.  Jesiah Deerr (Whitby, ON) is averaging 14.1 points per game with teammate Jalen Harmon (Ypsilanti, MI) also scoring in double figure at 11.3 per game for the Saints.  The Redeemer Men (6-2, West 4th Place) are ranked #6 in the OCAA while Conestoga is 3-5 and in 8th Place in the West.
