Women’s Basketball 12-3 after Dropping Sheridan

Windsor, ON – The St. Clair College Women's Basketball team moved their OCAA West Division record to 12-3 with a 73-60 victory over Sheridan College (Brampton) at the SportsPlex Saturday night.  The Lady Saints now have firm hold on 3rd place with three games remaining in their regular season. 

St. Clair went ahead early holding a 14-9 lead after the first quarter, but Sheridan battled back for a 28-28 deadlock by the halftime intermission.  The Saints used a 15-2 run to open the third quarter to create some space but allowed Sheridan to close the gap to just a bucket (62-60) with two minutes remaining in the game.  St. Clair then shutout the visitors the rest of the contest with a 11-0 run.  The statistics were relatively even in most categories, but the Saints hit seven triples with Sheridan only responding with one. 

Saints 3rd year guard Logan Kucera (Chatham, ON) led four Saints in double figures with 18 points adding 6 rebounds and 4 assists.  Anna Ulicny (Tecumseh, ON/St. Anne) scored 16 points with Jana Kucera (Chatham, ON netting 13 points for St. Clair.  Keirsten Tomkins (Sarnia, ON) went for a double-double scoring 12 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to go with 5 assists.  Nicole Tamm (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) was also strong on the boards with 14 rebounds and chipped in with 6 points for the Saints. 

Theresa Brown (Brampton, ON) scored a game high 21 points for Sheridan in the loss. 

St. Clair hosts 1st place and nationally ranked Humber College (Etobicoke) as part of the weekend double bill on Sunday with tip time at 1:00pm.  The Saints will recognize graduating players Anna Ulicny and Nicole Tamm before the game.
