Women’s Basketball Lose Final Home Regular Season Game

Windsor, ON – The St. Clair College Women's Basketball team lost their final home court regular season game by a score of 76-69 to Humber College (Etobicoke) Sunday afternoon at the SportsPlex.  The Lady Saints still sport a 12-4 record in the OCAA's West Division with a lock on 3rd Place before going on the road for their final two games of the regular season.  As host of the OCAA Provincial Championship St. Clair earns an automatic berth into the 8-team tournament that will be played at the SportsPlex March 6-8.

Against Humber Sunday, St. Clair took an early 21-18 lead after the opening frame but struggled in the second quarter making just a pair of field goals which resulted in a 40-30 halftime deficit.  The Saints righted the ship in the third and only trailed 58-53 heading to the final period.  They carried that momentum and a few minutes into the fourth St. Clair pulled ahead 62-58.  But Humber responded quickly with a 10-0 run that allowed the visitors the cushion to put the game away.  St. Clair made ten triples in the contest, but it did not erase the advantage Humber had in second chance points (15-8), points in the paint (28-22) and rebounding (41-34).

Twin guards Logan and Jana Kucera (Chatham, ON) paced the Saints offense each scoring 18 points, but they were the only St. Clair players to reach double figures.  Keirsten Tomkins (Sarnia, ON) hauled in 13 rebounds to go with 7 points for the Saints while teammate Noor Bazzi (Windsor, ON/Vincent Massey) had a good overall game with 8 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals and added a blocked shot.

Humber's Miea Campbell-Johnson (Brampton, ON) scored 22 of her game high 25 points in the second quarter while adding 10 rebounds to lead her team in the win.

St. Clair will go on the road this weekend to face Redeemer University (Ancaster) Saturday before wrapping up their regular season Sunday at Conestoga College (Kitchener).
