A late three from guard Beth Minielly (London, ON) sealed a 46-42 win for the Mohawk Mountaineers versus the Sheridan Bruins. The victory means the Mountaineers have clinched an OCAA playoff spot with two games remaining on the season.

The win also snapped Mohawk's five-game losing streak.

It was a back and forth game between the Mountaineers and Bruins with neither team shooting the ball particularly well. Mohawk held the largest lead in the contest of six-points, which came early in the second quarter.

In the fourth only up by one with eight seconds remaining, Minielly would knock down the three to ensure Mohawk would walk away with the road win. Mohawk closed the game out on a 13-6 run.

Minielly and Lauren Snider (Brantford, ON) led the Mountaineers with eight points each, respectively. Tia Stys (St. Catharines, ON) also played well with six points, seven rebounds and three blocks.

With the win Mohawk will play the OCAA East division number one seed in the crossover playoff round once the season is over. Their opponent will likely be either the Algonquin Wolves or Durham Lords.

Next the Mountaineers will closeout their road schedule with a matchup against the Redeemer Royals on Feb. 15, with tip-off scheduled for 6 p.m.
