Men’s Basketball Too Much for Mohawk in Opener

Windsor, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Basketball team opened their OCAA West Division regular season with a 93-85 home court victory over Mohawk College (Hamilton) Friday night at the SportsPlex.

Mohawk fought back from an early hole and led 21-19 after the first quarter but the Saints turned the tables and went ahead 45-35 by the halftime intermission.  Mohawk used a run to get within a few points twice and then St. Clair relinquished their lead before a pair of late triples put them ahead for good with at 64-62 going into the fourth quarter.  The Saints led by as much as 14 points down the stretch before Mohawk pulled to within a bucket with 1:51 remaining in the game.  But St. Clair held on for the win by keeping Mohawk off the board the remainder of the contest.  The Saints scored 18 second chance points on 16 offensive rebounds and outscored Mohawk 26-10 in points off the bench.
