Women’s Basketball Top Conestoga

Windsor, ON – The St. Clair College Women's Basketball team will enter the holiday break with an 8-2 record after a 68-57 victory over Conestoga College (Kitchener) at the SportsPlex Saturday afternoon.

The teams started sluggishly and were tied 12-12 entering the second quarter.  But St. Clair exploded for 29 points before halftime and led 41-27 at the break.  Conestoga responded but could come no closer than a 9-point differential in the late stages.  The visitors shot a better percentage from the floor and distance but had 26 less attempts even though they dominated in size around the basket.  The Lady Saints scored 31 points off 34 turnovers and made 7 more shots from beyond arc in the contest.

Logan Kucera (Chatham, ON) had a game high 29 points for St. Clair and narrowly missed a double-double with 9 rebounds.  No other Saints reached double figures but Noor Bazzi (Windsor, ON/Vincent Massey) chipped in with 3 makes from distance for 9 points.

Conestoga's Maddy Weber (Hamilton, ON) scored 24 points in the loss.

Following the semester break the St. Clair Women's Basketball team will travel to the Seneca College Tournament in North York Jan. 3-4.  The Saints pick up their regular season schedule when they host Fanshawe College Jan. 17th at the SportsPlex.
