Knights Season Comes to A Close with 2-3 Loss to Redeemer

March 11, 2022 - The Niagara Knights men's volleyball team saw their season come to an end Thursday night in Ancaster with a 2-3 loss to the Redeemer Royals. The Royals - who were 8-1 this season- will now advance to the OCAA quarterfinals on Saturday when they host the Algonquin Wolves. Set scores were 1-25, 25-23, 25-20, 8-25, 11-15.

Thursday night's match saw a close game between the 3-6 Knights and Royals.

Redeemer took the first set 19-25 to get the home crowd on their feet in a very loud and packed gymnasium.

Niagara came back in the second and third sets (25-23, 25-20) to go ahead 2-1 on the Royals.

Redeemer refused to go down without a fight on their home turf, storming back in set four to take a commanding 8-25 win and force a fifth and deciding set.

The Royals finished off the Knights in set five 11-15 to secure the 2-3 win and move on to the OCAA quarterfinals Saturday.

Ashton Nieuwets led the Knights in kills with 12, while Colin Prelaz and Dallas Melnick chipped in 8 and 7 respectively.
