No. 4 Mountaineers can’t overcome shooting woes in loss to Condors

The No. 4 nationally ranked Mohawk Mountaineers had their worst shooting game of the 2022-23 season, losing 98-84 to the Conestoga Condors.

It was only the Mountaineers second loss of the season, both coming against the Condors.

Mohawk came into the game leading the OCAA in points per game and second in field goal percentage, but in this contest shot 38.1 per cent from the field and six-of-21 from deep.

The biggest difference was the second quarter when the Condors got off to an 11-0 run and won the quarter 36-15.

Jerry Jr. Mercury (Scarborough, ON) led the Mountaineers with a season-high 26 points and nine rebounds. Daniel Graham (Hamilton, ON) provided 19 and Stefan Anisko (Haldimand County, ON) added 16.

Mohawk will look to bounce back on Jan. 28 when they play the Fanshawe Falcons in London, ON at 7 p.m.
